Two big coaching changes occurred at the end of last season for the Gators.

First Charlie Strong took a head coaching position with Louisville. Strong had led the Gators defense to consistent dominance for years in the SEC. Suddenly the Gators had a void they couldn’t seem to fill. Strong’s replacement accepted the job, and then the very next day, quit to coach with the Buffalo Bills.

The other big coaching change rectified itself. Urban Meyer concerned about his health, chose to retire. Then in a sudden change of mind, decided to stay in his position as head coach.

After more medical diagnosis, and some time to adjust his lifestyle, Meyer now seems to have found a life-work balance. This hasn’t been tested in the rigors of a seasons, but all appears good for Meyer.

How or will these changes affect the 2010 Gators football team? Will Meyer’s team posses the same edge? Will the defense be able to maintain its dominance?

The Swamp Talk crew discusses these two very important coaches with Gator Rivals beat reporter Keith Niebuhr.
